Your Muddy Lovely Pork

Your half or quarter pig will come jointed, boxed and labeled. A half pig is cut from the tail to the snout. If you want to butcher your own pork we can supply the carcass in one piece. A half pig costs £5.50 a kilo. As a rough guide, a side usually weighs between 28 and 35 kilos. It's a lot of lovely, mouthwatering pork so make some room in your freezer!

Let us know if you're sharing with a friend, we can pack the free range pork in two boxes for you. If you only want a quarter, the pork costs the same and is a mix of cuts from the front and back. We have a price cap - your half pig will never cost more than £160, a quarter never more than £80.

An average half-pig box contains:

  • A hand of pork: great for roasting or for making sausages.
  • A chump of pork: great for sausages.
  • A neck of pork: boned and rolled and cut into two or three joints. You can slice this into lovely, thick steaks for the BBQ or frying pan.
  • The loin: cut into great big, gorgeous chops as well as roasting joints.
  • The belly of pork: cut into three roasting joints but you could cure some and make bacon, or put this in the mixer for sausages.
  • The leg: a great roasting joint cut into three joints.
  • Fancy making some brawn? We can give you the trotters and head as well. Sometimes we have trotters that other people don't want - we are happy to give those away, just ask!

Pork & Pig Facts

Our pork is certified, rare-breed, pedigree pork.

The out door reared, free range pork tastes delicious and the crackling is crisp and crunchy.

It is GM-free, our pigs are not fed any growth promoters. Their diet is natural.

The pigs get lots of nutrients from the soil as we don't ring their noses to stop them digging up the ground.

The pigs get lots of treats - fruit and veg from a local farm shop and whey from a local dairy. Whey helps give the pork a creamy texture.

They are pampered and get lots of fuss, in the hot weather there's always a wallow for them to roll around in.

The pigs are never locked up indoors, they are free to root around outside, or to snooze in their warm houses.

Tamworth Pork came top in research and taste tests at Bristol University.

The Large Black is a dual purpose pig that provides fantastic pork but also brilliant bacon.

The Berkshire pig is famous for its pork and is said to have the best crackling ever.

They all taste different so try them all!
